We
are an association of code officials in Middle Tennessee
representing jurisdictions from near
the Tennessee River in the West to Crossville in the East. (See a
list of MTCOA member Jurisdictions.)
We review building
construction plans prior to construction; we inspect building
construction work before it is concealed and again when it is completed
and ready for use. Responsibility for extensive knowledge of - and
enforcement of - current code requirements and construction practices
providing minimum standards is on our shoulders. Building
occupants rely on us for health and safety. Buyers, owners,
investors and lending institutions depend upon us for the long term
security of their investments.
Our
purposes in forming this organization are to support consistent,
professional levels of codes enforcement throughout Middle
Tennessee, and to develop and maintain high professional standards as
individuals through education, communication and practice. We seek
to be informed of the best developments and innovations in the
construction industry. We educate each other and the men and women
of the construction industry in Middle Tennessee.
We
establish and maintain channels of communication with credible sources
of codes construction information, including manufacturers,
distributors, testing agencies, listing agencies and other code
associations where ever they are.
We
use this web site to improve communications with ourselves and with
those who want to know more about us - and as an educational aid where
practicable. We explain and demonstrate who we are to illuminate
what we do and why we are necessary.
